Assalam o Alaikum,
As we approach the last 10 days of Ramadan, we would like to remind everyone about Zakat-ul-Fitr, a compulsory charity that must be given before the Eid prayer.
Zakat-ul-Fitr is a Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ, intended to purify our fasts and help those in need. It is traditionally given in the form of 1 sa’aa (approximately 4-5 kg) of staple food such as wheat, rice, or barley. However, since distributing food directly can be logistically challenging, we have calculated the equivalent cost based on rice, which comes to $12 per person. To maximize the benefit, we encourage everyone to give $15 per person if possible.
We are collecting Zakat ul Fitr till the last day of the month of Ramadan, to allow us enough time to distribute. Please drop your Zakat-ul-Fitr in the donation box at the masjid at your earliest. Kindly place the money in an envelope and write “Zakat-ul-Fitr” on it so that it is properly allocated.
